Maxwell Quartet

Update – Maxwell Quartet

Update 2nd November 2020

The Maxwell Quartet who were due to play for us on 7th Oct, have recorded the programme they were due to perform.

The quality of their playing, and of the recording, are exemplary. In a rather bittersweet moment it reminds us of the joys of live music, and how much we miss it.

Thank you so much for your continued support and interest in the club’s activities, and for your forbearance with all the revisions we are having to deal with. It is to be hoped that in 2021 life may return to something resembling ‘normal’ once again.

Also attached is a concert programme to accompany the video, we hope you enjoy it.

Dear Members and Friends,

1st October 2020

Stop Press

Due to the resurgence of the Covid-19 virus currently being experienced in Scotland, the long hoped-for relaxation of restrictions governing music venues, which was due to be announced today, has once again been delayed.

In view of the foregoing, The Maxwell Quartet concert, scheduled for Weds 7th Oct at the Cinema in Newton Stewart has had to be postponed.  The concert will be rescheduled as soon as circumstances allow.

I sincerely apologise for this disappointing news.

Efforts are under way by the musicians to film a performance of the programme they had intended to play for us, and I will get further details of this to you, hopefully before the end of next week.  This will in no way replace the live experience we had all been so looking forward to. It does however allow us to offer some financial support to the musicians, and allows them to play together once more, which they are so desperate to do.

Thank you so much for your past expressions of support, and I look forward to bringing you more positive news in the future.

Stay safe, stay well.

With my best wishes,

Jim Anderson
