Mark O’Keefe

Creative Scotland winner 2003, Mark O’Keeffe has held the post of principal trumpet with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra since December 1996. He is a native of County Cork, Ireland, where he began his musical studies at the age of seven. After playing in the local brass band and receiving trumpet lessons from his father, his love of the trumpet developed.

In 1992, after studying at the Cork School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music, Mark was chosen as the winner of the RTE Musician of the Future competition. On his return to Ireland later that year, he was appointed Associate Principal Trumpet of the National Symphony Orchestra, a post he held for four years.

Over the past twelve years he has appeared as soloist with the BBCSSO performing new works by Judith Bingham, Mark Anthony Turnage, Thea Musgrave and Tansy Davies, as well as concertos by Telemann, Hummel and Shostakovich. In addition to his career with the BBC SSO, he is a committed chamber musician playing with ensembles which share his passion for new music, including guest Principal Trumpet with London Sinfonietta, London Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra and Halle Orchestra.

Sasha Savaloni

Sasha SavaloniClassical guitarist Sasha Savaloni is the 1st prize winner of the prestigious Sevilla International Guitar Competition in 2018.

As a soloist he has given concerts in Italy, Spain, France, Cyprus, Iran, Ireland and throughout the UK, performing recitals in venues such as the Kings Place (London), Sage Gateshead (Newcastle), City Halls (Glasgow), Stevenson Hall (Glasgow), Holyrood Palace (Edinburgh), DIT Conservatory (Dublin) and the Leeds College of Music as well as performances in festivals such as the London Guitar Festival, St Magnus International Festival, Sul Tasto Paris, Festival de la Guitarra de Sevilla, Big Guitar Weekend, Festival Corde d’Autunno, Les Garrigues Memorial Emili Pujol, Bath Guitar Festival, Shrewsbury Guitar Festival, Plug New Music Festival and the Ullapool Guitar Festival.

A committed Chamber musician, Sasha has worked with numerous musicians and ensembles, including collaborations with the Red Note Ensemble, trumpeter Mark O’Keeffe, guitarist Ian Watt, flautist Lee Holland and soprano Alison McNeill with whom they were the 2015-2017 recipients of the prestigious ‘Enterprise Music Scotland Residency Project Artists’.

Sasha is a lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He is also pursuing a Doctoral degree at the RCS focusing on performance of Schubert’s music on guitar.
